A Little About Me

I am a highly motivated yoga instructor currently teaching in Chesham at The Town Hall. I hold a certificate in Baptiste Power Yoga, pranayama, theming and chair yoga. I am passionate about yoga and its many benefits; seeking to connect and share experience with others to become our own teachers and live our best lives.

I found yoga fairly late in life when I was going through a particularly rough patch and it quite literally saved me. As I progressed along my yoga journey the benefits just kept coming and it gave me a renewed and heightened zest for life and a focus on my future like I had never had before. I decided then that I wanted to bring yoga to other people in the hope that they too would reap the benefits, positively enhancing their lives, futures and mindset.

This week's theme was love which I picked because I had the wonderful opportunity to teach some fabulous women for a hen do!

I made the routine a fairly simple one to hopefully meet all levels of experience. I also used the routine for my regular class adding some variations for extra heat.

I started out suggesting a visualisation which I recently experienced in my practical philosophy class; thinking of someone they love and then recalling things, such as, how they walk and talk, kind things that they had done, positive traits or attributes, and finally the essence of the person. I then invited people to notice how this felt in the body, and then both reflect that love inwards and out to everyone else practising.

Throughout I aimed to pepper the love theme into the practice, by hugging ourselves, holding our own hands in a bind, breathing love in and out.

I think I covered this well enough in my main class but feedback suggested I could've brought the theme in stronger for the hen do, so a good note to self on context and what works where! I also worked with a new space, teaching outside, which I have done before, but this time the space was limited by a swimming pool.

The whole experience was rewarding and great for my own growth; I was able to constructively and gently see where I could have done more, but also love myself for taking on something new and challenging!

Which leads me coincidentally into next week's theme which is growth 🌳

Which one will you feed?

One evening, an elderly Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said "my son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

"The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked "which wolf wins?"

The old cherokee simply repiles "the one you feed"
